DEARBORN (dpa-AFX) - Ford Motor Co. (F) is recalling 2012 Edge vehicles manufactured from September 2, 2010, through October 31, 2011, due to a potentially dangerous fuel line problem. The fuel line pulse damper metal housing may crack as a result of an improper manufacturing process. The recall affects 5,499 vehicles, equipped with 2.0L engines, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
A cracked fuel line pulse damper housing may result in a combination of fuel odor, weepage, or a continuous leak while the fuel system is pressurized. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.
Ford will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about September 24, 2012.
