WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Popular candy brand M&M's has introduced a new caramel chocolate candy flavor, which will be available on shelves from May 2017. The new candies will have a smooth caramel center covered with M&M's milk chocolate, coated in a colorful candy shell.
Crispy, smooth and nutty categories with peanut, peanut butter, and milk chocolate flavors were the most popular M&M's. Now it adds soft and chewy category. The new candy is expected to be larger than the milk chocolate candies with a perfect smooth texture in every piece.
The company said, it has used a brand new technology to create soft and chewy category partition for the caramel candies. According to reports, the new candy flavor will earn around $2.2 billion.
The launch of the new flavor is in line with Mars Inc.'s plan of getting rid of all artificial colors in the next five years. The company has announced that it will remove artificial colors from all its chocolate, gum, confection, food and drink products. The change will be reflected in around 50 brands such as M&M, Skittles, Wrigley's gum, Snickers, and Twix.
M&M has a history of 75 years and it has been a favorite candy of soldiers during the World war II.
Tanya Berman, Brand Director, M&M'S Brand said, 'In our research, our fans were enthusiastic at the possibility of a Caramel variant and we can't wait for them to try the perfect balance of soft caramel and delicious M&M'S chocolate this spring.'
