AS1530/31 Line is Ideal for Battery-Powered Devices and
Portable Data Acquisition Systems, Including Remote Sensors or Pen
Digitizers
austriamicrosystems (SWX:AMS), a leading global designer and manufacturer of analog integrated circuits (ICs) for communication, industrial, medical and automotive applications, has introduced the AS1530/31 family - a new line of fully differential 12-bit, 8-channel, low power A/D converters with 2.5V internal reference. Combining low-power operation, high speed (400ksps) and four analog input modes with outstanding dynamic performance (SINAD greater than 70dB) in a Pb-free TSSOP-20 package, the AS1530/31 family is an optimal solution for battery-powered devices and portable data acquisition systems such as remote sensors or pen digitizers.
"This type of multi-input A/D converter is ideal for applications where many system parameters must be measured, and the need for such applications is increasing rapidly," said Walter Moshammer, marketing director for standard linear at austriamicrosystems.
Demonstrating austriamicrosystems' continued industry leadership in low power consumption, the AS1530, operating from a +4.5V to +5.5V supply, consumes only 2.8mA at 400ksps. Powered by a +2.7 to +3.6V supply, the AS1531 consumes 2.2mA at 300ksps.
Software power-down further reduces current consumption to 0.4mA at reduced-power mode and 0.5uA at full power-down mode. This reduces total power consumption at sampling rates of 10ksps to 27.5uA per channel, to less than 0.55uA at lower data rates.
"The analog inputs are software configurable in four different modes. The choice of 8-channel single-ended, 8-channel pseudo differential, 4-channel pseudo differential and the fully differential 4-channel mode offer utmost flexibility for various applications. The fully differential input mode enables especially precise measurements under noisy conditions commonly found in industrial environments," said Walter Moshammer.
SPI, QSPI and a Microwire-compatible interface enable high-speed data access while minimizing board space, while an integrated 2.5V reference reduces external component count.
The AS1530/31 family is available in a Pb-free 20-pin TSSOP package suitable for operating environments ranging from -40(degrees)C to +85(degrees)C. Product-specific information and free samples can be found at www.austriamicrosystems.com/03products/AS1530.htm
