WHAT: | All food and shelter goods collected during the week will be weighed at each participating company's office. The company with the highest average weight (total weight divided by total participants) will be named "2008 Food Shelter Needs Drive Champ." The companies have selected the following organizations to receive their donations:

WHY: | The Emergency Service and Homeless Coalition of Jacksonville reports that there are nearly 3,000 homeless men, women and children on any given day in Duval County. Florida is ranked #2 in the nation in terms of homeless individuals. (#1 California 195,637, #2 Florida 68,369). | |

About City Rescue Mission
Founded in 1960, City Rescue Mission provides help, hope and healing to the homeless of Jacksonville. Nearly 500 men, women, and children receive emergency shelter, meals, case management, spiritual enrichment, dental and medical services, educational services, Christian guidance, and other recovery services each day.
About The Betty Griffin House
As a private, nonprofit agency, the Safety Shelter of St. Johns County, Inc., dba: Betty Griffin House, provides emergency shelter to abused women and their minor children and temporary shelter for rape victims in danger after the crime. Other support services available to shelter residents and nonresidents include a 24-hour crisis hotline, individual and group counseling, case management, civil legal representation, and court advocacy. Betty Griffin House provides all services to men who are abused with separate accommodations.
