MedBasics, a leading operator of retail health clinics, is expanding its convenient care concept with a new clinic in Fort Worth. The new MedBasics Family Health Center, located inside the Carnival Super Market at 102 Northwest 28th Street, is the first grocery-based retail health clinic in Tarrant County.
MedBasics Family Health Centers provide quality, fast and convenient walk-in treatment for minor ailments like colds, flu and strep throat at a cost that is significantly less than a trip an urgent care clinic or a hospital emergency room.
In addition to Fort Worth, MedBasics will open new locations in Oak Cliff, Irving, and Plano, bringing the total number of its family health centers in Dallas-Fort Worth to six by the end of the year. Another 21 centers are expected to open in stores owned by Minyard Food Stores, Inc. during the next two years. Overall, the company, which introduced the first retail health clinic in North Texas in 2006, plans to have around 500 family health centers in retail locations by 2010.
"North Texans have embraced this new concept of convenient and affordable healthcare delivery," said Brian Jones, CEO of MedBasics. "Through the new Fort Worth location, we bring our service to families in Tarrant County who will benefit from the access MedBasics provides."
"We are extremely excited with the addition of the new MedBasics clinic next to the pharmacy in our Carnival store," stated Ron Peters, Vice President of Pharmacy for Minyard Food Stores, Inc. "Our partnership with MedBasics is part of our continued focus on the health and wellness of our customers in the neighborhoods we serve."
MedBasics Family Health Centers are staffed by licensed nurse practitioners and physician's assistants, and offer a variety of routine medical services. These include physical exams, immunizations, flu shots and treatment of common illnesses like allergies, bladder infections, bronchitis, ear and sinus infections and strep throat. Visits normally take 15 minutes, with no appointments needed, and are $49 for most services.
"MedBasics gives customers a fast, easy way to access basic medical services even when their own doctor's offices are closed, or a costly trip to a hospital emergency room seems their only option," Jones noted.
No appointments are needed and visits normally take only 15 minutes. All MedBasics Family Health Centers are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
