New name, Alcohol Beverage Industry Supply Chain Council, reflects expansion of purpose and audience
The Alcohol Beverage Industry Electronic Commerce Council is now the Alcohol Beverage Industry Supply Chain Council (ABI SCC). The new leadership team, consisting of Chairman Bill Healey of The Charmer Sunbelt Group and Vice Chairman Mike Adams of Glazer's Family of Companies, today announced the new name and a new set of goals for the group.
The organization is using the theme, "Driving Supply Chain Efficiency in the Alcohol Beverage Industry for over 20 Years" to reflect the focus of improving the supply chain efficiencies and data accuracy within the alcohol beverage industry. This will be accomplished through the use of electronic commerce, establishing industry standards and applying best practices.
"We are broadening the mission statement to include improvements to not only the technical components of the supply chain, but all of the components and processes. One of the current challenges we are attacking is the reduction and elimination of inaccurate data in business transactions. Broadening participation across the business enterprise and not simply laying the challenge at the feet of the technology department will create the critical mass we need to make progress on these types of issues," said Healey, who serves as Vice-President & Chief Supply Chain Officer, The Charmer Sunbelt Group, New York.
Adams, who is Senior Vice President, Information Technologies & Supply Chain, Glazer's Family of Companies, Dallas, added: "Our vision of the group is a strong team of technology and supply chain leaders that actively participate to develop best practices for the industry. These leaders will also be the catalysts in implementing best practices within their companies."
The ABI SCC goals include reviewing and discussing industry developments concerning supply chain efficiencies enabled through electronic commerce initiatives and representing the alcohol beverage industry in standards-setting bodies.
"The new name and vision of ABI SC is a recognition that the alcohol beverage industry, from the producers through the distributors to the retailers, needs to adapt standard operating practices in order to service the consumer in the most efficient manner possible. Only by developing and implementing these standards can the industry expect to optimize the supply chain," said Steve Arens, Director of ABI SCC.
About the Alcohol Beverage Industry Supply Chain Council
The Alcohol Beverage Industry Supply Chain Council (ABI SCC) provides a forum for alcohol beverage industry members to work together to improve supply chain efficiency and drive data accuracy through the use of electronic commerce, established industry standards and best practices.
