Sens. John Barrasso (R-WY) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) today led bipartisan legislation that would repeal Section 526 of EISA, which limits the Federal government's ability, including that of the U.S. military, to purchase fuel produced from oil sands. In addition, Rep. Bill Flores (R-TX) successfully amended the FY 2014 House Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill (H.R. 2217) to address the adverse impacts of Section 526. The Flores amendment would prevent the availability of funds to enforce Section 526.
