According to Peter D. Kinder, president of KLD Research & Analytics, Inc., KLD selects companies for the DSI that have positive social and environmental records based on the following issues: community relations, diversity, employee relations, human rights, product quality and safety, environment and corporate governance. In selecting companies for the DSI, KLD seeks to maintain the composition of index holding at approximately 250 S&P 500(R) Index companies, 100 non-S&P companies chosen for sector diversification and market capitalization and 50 additional companies with exemplary social and environmental records.
Launched in 1990, DSI is the first benchmark for equity portfolios subject to social and environmental screens. The index is widely used to evaluate the impact of social screening on financial returns and to measure the performance of socially screened portfolios. As of January 2006, $2 billion in assets are invested in funds based on the index. The index is listed under the Bloomberg ticker symbol: KLDDSI, and under the Reuters ticker symbol: KLDDSI.
"We are pleased to again be listed on the Domini 400 Social Index," said Harris E. DeLoach Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer.
