The traveling exhibit provides an inside look into the fuel
testing and performance benefits behind every drop of Amoco Ultimate
fuel at BP
Until now, only engineers, scientists and mechanics have seen what fuel does to the inside of a car. With the all new Amoco Ultimate Fuel Experience, everyone is invited to take a look inside a car's engine to see - with their own eyes - the difference between grades of fuel. Consumers will see how continuous use of Amoco Ultimate premium fuel can clean up a dirty engine and help increase its performance. They will also get the chance to experience a racing simulator inside a transformed Amoco Ultimate oil tanker.
"This tour allows consumers to see first hand the technology that goes into the development of gasoline," said Chuck Grawey, Vice President of BP Fuels Management Group. "We know some people think all gasoline is the same, so we look forward to showing drivers there are differences and sharing our knowledge with our customers across the U.S."
Live Demonstrations
The Amoco Ultimate Fuel Experience is a fully interactive oil tanker exhibit with live demonstrations that give consumers an inside look into fuel.
The exhibit contains two live dynamometer and boroscope demonstrations. In the first demonstration, two dynamometers - similar to a treadmill for cars - will showcase the horsepower differences between two identical cars - one run on regular, unbranded gasoline and one run on BP's premium fuel, Amoco Ultimate.
The second demonstration will place a boroscope - a fiber optic camera - into a custom built split-engine Pontiac GTO. The modified engine will include two separate fuel tanks that allow it to run on half regular fuel and half Amoco Ultimate. It will show the engine deposit build-up caused by regular gasoline with minimum detergency versus the cleaning power of Amoco Ultimate fuel.
In addition to live demonstrations, the Amoco Ultimate Fuel Experience includes a full-size tanker truck that opens to provide a variety of information about fuel through five interactive modules, which features: -0- -- Fuel Your Mind--a brief education on fuels -- Clean Engines Work Better--a glance at how fuel affects all parts of the engine -- What's Engine Knock?--an overview of the untimely fuel detonation, including its causes, what can be done to prevent it and how to fix it -- See the Difference--a glimpse at how clean and dirty valves affect vehicle performance -- Cleaning the Air--current and future environmental issues and how we can work to solve them
"After learning and seeing how Amoco Ultimate fuel offers more performance with less pollution, consumers have the opportunity to win prizes and even play racing games," said Christine Jagher, Manager of Events and Sponsorships at BP. "We aim to entertain and educate drivers so they are armed with the knowledge necessary to make an informed decision about the fuel they choose for their vehicles."
The tour will be traveling to a variety of festivals, races and gatherings nationwide. For a list of the tour destinations and dates, please reference the enclosed tour schedule.
