MILAN (AFX) - Alitalia SpA said the number of passengers it carried in August rose 3.1 pct to 2.2 mln, from a year earlier, while load factor rose 1.9 percentage points to 78.5 pct.
August traffic, measured in passenger kilometres, rose 1.1 pct, notwithstanding a fall of 1.4 pct in the capacity offering, it said.
In the domestic market, passengers rose 0.3 pct to 887,000, traffic rose 0.1 pct and load factor was up 5.8 pct points to 68.4 pct, it said,
International passengers were up 6.4 pct to 1.078 mln, traffic rose 3.3 pct, and the load factor rose 1.9 points to 77.1 pct, it said.
Intercontinental passengers were down 0.5 pct to 240,000, traffic fell 0.2 pct, and load factor was up 0.2 points to 82.8 pct, it said.
