LONDON (AFX) - Fears about a poor Christmas for UK supermarkets and grocers were unfounded, according to data released Wednesday.
Turnover in the sector in the 12 weeks to December 31 increased by 5 pct against the same period a year ago, according to a study by analysts TNS.
Tesco PLC showed the biggest gain in absolute terms with a one percentage point increase in its market share to 31.4 pct, TNS said. philip.waller@thomson.com paw/slm COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2006.
