LONDON (Thomson Financial) - The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said gasoline inventories were down 700,000 barrels to 202.6 mln barrels in the week to June 22, while crude stocks rose by 1.6 mln barrels to 350.9 mln barrels.
The market had forecast that gasoline stocks would rise by about 800,000 barrels and that crude stocks would gain by some 900,000 barrels.
Refineries were operating at 89.4 pct of their capacity, compared to 87.6 pct the week before.
In distillates, including heating oil, the EIA said inventories fell 2.3 mln barrels to 120.4 mln barrels.
