Taking advantage of the Securities and Exchange Commission’s innovative Notice and Access rules, American Water has posted its proxy materials and annual report on Form 10-K on the Internet (www.amwater.com), reducing the number of paper copies mailed to its stockholders.
American Water chose not to print a glossy annual report and instead introduced an interactive web-based annual report at www.amwaterannualreport.com.
“American Water is proud to be doing its share to preserve and renew Earth’s limited resources,” said Donald Correll, president and chief executive officer of American Water. “Thanks to the new SEC rules and by taking this technological leap, we estimate we will save approximately 300 trees and 98,000 gallons of water, which would have been used in the paper-making process.”
The virtual report, which features several of the company’s leadership team and more than 50 video segments, outlines American Water’s 2008 accomplishments and challenges, and goals for 2009.
Any media interested in attending the annual stockholder meeting should call Maureen Duffy at 856-309-4546 prior to May 8, 2009.
