The Lutheran Educational Conference of North America (LECNA), a consortium of 42 Lutheran colleges and universities from across the nation and Canada, will host a series of college fairs and financial aid seminars in the Midwest, beginning Sunday, April 26, in Excelsior, Minn., and ending Monday, May 4, in Moorhead, Minn. The tour will also include events in Maple Grove, Minn., on Monday, April 27, Burnsville, Minn., on Tuesday, April 28, Woodbury, Minn., on Wednesday, April 29, Rochester, Minn., on Thursday, April 30, and Sioux Falls, S.D., on Sunday, May 3. More information - including location details and times and participating institutions - can be found on LECNA’s website, www.lutherancolleges.org.
All of the events hosted by LECNA offer students and parents the opportunity to talk with representatives of the consortium’s member institutions and explore colleges that emphasize the importance of an education that engages the mind, body and spirit. In addition to one-to-one conversations with admissions counselors, each fair includes a financial aid seminar, featuring professionals from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and financial aid directors from LECNA colleges. The seminar helps families navigate the financial aid process and advises them on managing their finances in a way that accommodates the cost of a private education.
President of LECNA Ralph Wagoner said, “The college fairs - particularly those in the Midwest - have always been well attended and offer us a good chance to meet face-to-face with parents and students and answer their individual questions. They are great showcase events for us and give families an introduction to those serving in the Lutheran higher education network.”
Supported by its member institutions and grants from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, LECNA’s Midwest tour is just one of several outreach efforts. The organization hosts a series of fairs across the nation throughout the year, coordinates the dissemination of research promoting the unique values of Lutheran higher education and maintains a central website - www.lutherancolleges.org- that collects information on each of the colleges and presents it in an appealing, comprehensive manner.

The Lutheran Educational Conference of North America was formed in 1910 to encourage, assist and promote cooperation among Lutheran colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The oldest existing inter-Lutheran organization in North America, LECNA supports the missions of 28 colleges and universities affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the 10 affiliated with the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod and four other Lutheran institutions.
