Annual Tradition Will Draw Thousands to All-in-Water Boat Show
The 41st annual Long Beach Yacht and Boat Show will take place at Shoreline Village Marina from September 10-13, 2009, continuing the rich tradition of boat shows produced by the Southern California Marine Association (SCMA) and presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California.
One of the West Coast's largest in-water and outdoor boat shows, the Long Beach Show features hundreds of motor yachts, cruisers, sailboats, fishing boats, performance sport boats, family trailerables, ski boats, pontoons, inflatables and personal watercraft. Attendees can board a wide variety of ocean-going vessels, with knowledgeable industry experts available to answer questions.
Enthusiasts looking for accessory products and related marine services will be delighted with the selection available, as the show offers an exceptional assortment of marine electronics, hardware, and safety equipment from popular manufacturers and local dealers. On hand will be Flying Cloud Yachts, exhibiting a Gemini 105MC Catamaran; Hovey Yachts, showcasing a new 55’ Fleming Pilot House; Art Brooks Sea Company, displaying a Johnson 75’; and Bayport Yachts will feature Carver/Marquis; while a selection of Catalina Yachts, Beneteau and Hunter Sailboats will be available.
This year, the boat show has significantly expanded its popular in-water demo capabilities by inviting local sailing schools and clubs to participate, allowing show attendees a chance to get out on the water with experienced sailors to learn what boating is all about. SCMA will also introduce a spectacular free seminar program featuring industry icons from companies like Catalina Yachts, Harken, Schaefer, MacGregor and W.D. Schock. According to Bruce Brown, president of the Southern California Marine Association, “This is really a special occasion for the sailboat industry to have all of these pioneers of our sport together.”
A special Saturday evening food and beverage mixer will be hosted by Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine. The party, featuring prize give-aways and music, is free to all attendees and exhibitors, and starts at 7:00 PM.
Visitors will enjoy convenient access to venues, shopping, parking and inviting restaurants during show hours. Boaters may also cruise into the show on their own vessels and enjoy in-harbor public anchorage facilities off the Queen Mary. Thursday/Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Saturday, 10 AM - 7 PM; and Sunday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
