Pat Tiernan, Executive Director of Climate Savers Computing Initiative since 2008, has more than 15 years' experience in technology, most recently driving sustainability strategy and execution at Hewlett Packard as the vice president of Social and Environmental Responsibility. Tiernan is a recognized expert in green technology, and media and industry leaders and conferences often seek his opinion, particularly about computer sustainability issues and the future of IT energy efficiency and its impact on climate change. He has spoken at important industry conferences such as Corporate Eco Forum (2009), ITU Telecom World (2009), Interops Energy Camp (2009), Virtual Energy Forum (2008), Interop (2007), and many others.
He also leads Climate Savers Computings Webinar series that the organization conducts in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR program. At Climate Savers Computing, Tiernan drives forward the organizations mission to promote the adoption of energy-efficient computers and power management tools worldwide. Under his leadership, the organization has topped 500 members, launched a chapter in India, and expanded its partnership with the U.S. EPA ENERGY STAR program. Launched in 2007, the Climate Savers Computing Initiative is a nonprofit group of eco-conscious consumers, businesses and conservation organizations dedicated to reducing the energy consumption of computers.
