Comporium recently received notification from the National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) that it has been selected as one of six participating companies in the "Hot Technologies" section at the upcoming NTCA Expo '10.
The industry trade show is scheduled to be held at the West Hall inside the Tampa Convention Center during Feb. 2-3. The NTCA comprises more than 580 member companies that provide local phone, wireless, Internet, cable, satellite and long distance service to rural areas.
Comporium will be featuring its Security Dealer Program; and through its partnership with uControl and SMC Networks, it will showcase uControl's Security, Monitoring and Automation (SMA) Platform and the industry's only "All-In-One" SMA TouchScreen from SMC, which combines an alarm system, communications gateway and home automation platform into one device.
The TouchScreen leverages key enabling technologies from the SMA Platform including remote control from any Web browser or cell phone, alerts via e-mail or text messages, redundant connectivity (broadband and cellular), cameras, home automation and interoperability with existing alarm panels from Honeywell, DSC, GE and Bosch.
In addition, the seven-inch TouchScreen device is a lightweight network information appliance in the home enabling service providers to deliver video, photos, web content and social networking applications via an open, standards-based Widget Platform. The Widget Platform is also the catalyst for other broadband applications such as residential energy management and home health care monitoring.
"We are honored to have been chosen as one of the featured 'hot technologies' for the upcoming annual meeting," said Dan Lehman, general manager of the Comporium Security Dealer Program. "More than offering a leading edge solution, which bridges to services like energy management, video monitoring and other IP-enabled products, we are offering local telephone and cable TV companies a way to create a new profitable line of business."
The Comporium Security Dealer Program not only provides security monitoring through its UL approved Central Station, it also provides technical support, training for sales and service technicians, and "customize and go" marketing campaigns.
Lehman said that Comporium and uControl's SMA Platform will be displayed in Section 1 of the Hot Technologies area located at aisle 400 at the show. The other participants include: Mapcom Systems, SDT, Inc., Occam Networks, Inc., Quintrex Data Systems, and Calix. The NTCA's panel of judges will review the entries and will recognize its top three choices during the Expo Open House scheduled the evening of Feb. 2.
