GaBio's Conference Will Feature 70 Experts Sharing Insights on Trends, Issues
Thomas Frieden, MD, MPH, Director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, will deliver the kick-off keynote address at the 10th Annual Georgia Life Sciences Summit September 27 in Atlanta. Dr. Frieden, the nation's public health leader, will discuss the state of health care in the U.S.
Following Dr. Frieden, the day-long conference at AmericasMart will feature more than 70 expert speakers in panel discussions exploring trends and issues across four major subject areas: medical technology and devices; the changing landscape of the biotech and pharmaceutical industry; therapeutics, diagnostics and vaccines; and new and exciting science at Georgia's universities. More than 800 CEOs, senior executives, university scientists, physicians and public policy officials from Georgia and across the nation are expected to attend. This year's theme is "Bioscience at a Crossroads" and focuses attention on the evolving business and regulatory climate, which directly affects discovery and development of new products, the availability of funding to support research and the industry's ability to compete in a global society.
The luncheon plenary session will feature experts from across the spectrum of health care examining details of the "Changing Landscape of Biotech and Pharma." Speakers are:

The closing plenary session will explore "Neuroscience Innovation and the Role of Georgia's Scientific, Medical and Military Communities." Speakers are:

In addition to the plenary and panel programs, the Summit will include an exhibit hall where Georgia companies and universities will display the latest bioscience-related research, technologies, products and services; a BioCareer Resource Center where professionals and college students can learn about bioscience jobs in Georgia; and the Anthony Shuker Scientific Poster Contest with about 100 scientists competing for cash prizes.
