UrtheCast Announces The Launch Of Key Hardware Components To The ISS

VANCOUVER, July 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ - UrtheCast Corp. (TSX:UR) ('UrtheCast') is pleased to announce that RSC Energia has launched components that will support the installation of UrtheCast's cameras on the International Space Station ("ISS"). The launch of these components on Progress Supply Ship 52P from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstanoccurred on July 28, along with a payload of ISS supplies.

"The successful launch of these major components is integral to the installation and operation of UrtheCast's cameras this fall," explains Dr. George Tyc, UrtheCast Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer. "These components will form the main structural base to which our medium-res camera and high-res video camera will be attached."

These components were developed, built, and tested by RSC Energia - Russia's leading space corporation, as required under UrtheCast's strategic agreement with Roscosmos, the Russian Space Agency. When both components, RSC Energia's and UrtheCast cameras, are fully installed, UrtheCast will have the ability to precisely track targeted locations on the Earth below with its high-resolution video camera. To complete the installation, these components will require a spacewalk.
