OZARK, Mo., Oct. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SLS International , a leading provider of premium-quality sound systems for professional (recording studio, concert, etc.), cinema and home entertainment markets, announced today that its LS6593 and LS6593A Line Array speakers were featured at AES 2006. The LS6593 series offers the same high performance characteristics expected from an SLS product in a compact design perfect for a wide range of installation applications.
"The interest in our products at the AES show was phenomenal," said John Gott, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of SLS. "Demand continues to grow among the commercial markets for our cutting-edge speakers. As our customers seek ways to improve the quality of their sound experience, SLS is increasingly the speaker of choice."
The LS6593S/LS6593A concept is based on a woofer line array mounted on a front panel with a coaxially positioned ribbon tweeter array. The woofer array consists of 6 x 5.25" drivers while the tweeter array consists of 9 x 3" proprietary ribbon planar drivers driven from a passive crossover point of 2,000Hz. The system delivers a frequency response of 80Hz to 20kHz with an SPL of 94dB referenced at 1W/1M and a calculated response of 118dB continuous and 124dB peak. The system handles up to 600 Watts of amplifier power. 70V 60W versions are available as well.
"The LS6593S and LS6593A represent a breakthrough in high performance compact line array loudspeaker technology," says Tom Harrison, director of engineering for SLS. "Utilizing patented ribbon planar drivers this unique design concept provides different options for vertical dispersion allowing versatile system configuration for a variety of applications. It is one of the most flexible and cost effective tools based on modern advanced technology principles available today. We believe the LS6593 series will have a significant impact on the industry."
The low frequency polycomposite cone woofers are mounted on a cast aluminum chassis with the entire enclosure made of extruded aluminum weighting in at a remarkable 30lbs (13.6kg). The system is 32.2" (81.8cm) high by 7.5" (19cm) wide and 8.3" (21cm) deep. Threaded inserts on the back allow for many mounting options. Both units are fully suited for use in extreme weather conditions due to the sealed cabinet design and are available in black and white.
The LS6593S is a straight line array that offers extremely controlled vertical dispersion. The LS6593A has internally articulated driver elements that allow wider vertical dispersion at one end of the array. Both options are built within the same straight, column type enclosure, perfect for professional applications where the highest quality and intelligibility of sound is required. The building block concept allows for a large number of configurations and resulting coverage patterns ideal for a wide range of applications including sound reinforcement in churches and auditoriums; paging in difficult acoustic environments and stack columns to achieve taller vertical sound field for raked seating applications.
