BOCA RATON, FL and PLEASANTON, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 01/14/13 -- The Security Bloggers Network (SBN), the largest collection of information security-focused blogs and podcasts in the world, and Trainer Communications, an integrated marketing and public relations firm with a dedicated IT security team, today announced they have partnered to manage nominations and voting for the 2013 SBN Social Security Blogger Awards.
In past years, a blue ribbon panel of judges chose finalists from among SBN member blogs, and winners were then selected through an SBN member vote. This year, finalists will be picked by both a blue ribbon panel of esteemed judges with deep expertise and experience in the security industry as well as a new nomination and voting process that any blogger and reader can participate in.
To participate in this year's finalist nomination process, entrants must do the following within the specified deadlines:
- Provide your name, email address, phone number, company and title (if applicable), blog name and URL to email@example.com. In the email, indicate which category the blog will be nominated in: Best Corporate Security Blog (must include business email for this category), Best Security Podcast, The Most Educational Security Blog, The Most Entertaining Security Blog, The Blog that Best Represents the Security Industry, The Single Best Blog Post or Podcast of the Year, or The Security Bloggers Hall of Fame. You must complete this by Thursday, Jan. 17.
- Once the nomination has been verified, entrants will receive a graphic to post on the home page of the blog along with a link to the nomination voting page. This badge and link must be posted by Friday, Jan. 18.
On Monday, Jan. 21, voting for nominated blogs will open; it will close Friday, Jan. 25, and is open to anyone. All nominees may circulate the voting page URL, https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/SBNvotes, freely. Entrants are welcome to also issue a press release or any other campaign content promoting the nomination and voting process.
After the nomination and voting process ends, the top vote recipients will be added to the list of finalists. SBN members will then choose winners through a voting process open only to them. The award-winner voting process will start Tuesday, Jan. 29, and end Monday, Feb. 4. SBN members can be alerted when the voting opens by emailing contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year's winners will be announced at the 2013 SBN Security Bloggers Meetup in San Francisco during RSA Conference 2013.
"We are very lucky to have a firm such as Trainer Communications assist the SBN, year in and year out Trainer always steps up to help us recognize the very best security bloggers. Trainer's deep security industry expertise allows the firm to add value to our voting process, making it easier for everyone," said Alan Shimel, SBN founder and manager. "I would also like to thank all of the sponsors of the Security Bloggers Meetup -- Fortinet, Sourcefire, Qualys, RSA Conference, Barracuda Networks and Akamai -- for their support; without them, the awards would not be possible."
"Trainer Communications believes it's important to recognize and reward the security industry's network of bloggers because they give their personal time to provide the world with information that can be used to make the Internet more secure," said Joe Franscella, director, Trainer Communications IT security marketing and public relations team. "Trainer Communications has been a member of the SBN for three years; it's a worthy cause that our IT security marketing and PR team is proud to support."
The Security Bloggers Network is the single largest source of news and information regarding information security. With over 300 blogs actively contributing, the SBN feed "has all of the security news fit to print." Every year they also recognize the top bloggers in the industry during RSA Conference at the Security Bloggers Meetup.
