At Vicenzaoro Spring Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards, the Jewellery Oscars

VICENZA, May 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

The Opening of VICENZAORO Spring, the International Gold and Jewellery Show open at Fiera di Vicenza until 22nd May coincided with the prize-giving ceremony of the second edition of the Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards, the Jewellery Oscars, where the very best in the jewellery world receive recognition.

An exclusive red carpet event hosted in the iconic location of the Fondazione Bisazza, a cultural space for design and contemporary architecture, attended by the elite of world jewellery, international guests, trendsetters and journalists from all over the globe.

"These awards aim at celebrating fascination, creativity and uniqueness, the very best qualities of precious items," said Paolo Mantovani, President of Fiera di Vicenza. "The awards are named after that most illustrious Vicenza-born celebrity, Andrea Palladio, whose concept of beauty brings to mind proportion and harmony, order and measure. The history and culture of our territory is steeped in his exceptional creativity. His values are still extremely valid today, and when they are applied to jewellery, they are able to determine the success of a collection, a production, a brand, a company and an expert."

The distinguished Jury, led by Maestro Gianmaria Buccellati and made up of Silvana Annichiarico, Director of the Triennale Design Museum, Alba Cappellieri, President of the Fashion Degree at the Politecnico of Milano, Franco Cologni, President of Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d'Arte, Beatrice Salmon Director of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris and Patricia Urquiola, designer, was called upon to judge the eight award categories.

The Award for the Best Italian Designer went to Giancarlo Montebello, a top exponent of our great Italian tradition; the Best International Designer was Stephen Webster, a British designer, extremely popular among celebrities for his glam rock style.

The Awards for the Best Italian and International Brand Collections went to Pasquale Bruni and Cartier respectively; the French Maison doubled up on the award in the Best Flagship Store category; the jury also selected Damiani for the Best Communication Campaign). The 2013 edition of the Andrea Palladio International Jewellery Awards saw the introduction of the Best New Media Communication Award, won by Bulgari, and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award which was attributed to the Italian brand, Roberto Coin, for its constant commitment to promoting the values of sustainability, responsibility and ethics in the international jewellery community.
