London, United Kingdom--(Newsfile Corp. - July 6, 2026) - Digital Science, a leading technology company serving stakeholders across the research ecosystem, today announced its forthcoming Dimensions Research Strategy, an AI analytics platform built to reason through complex strategic questions the way a skilled research domain expert would - on demand, at scale, with full provenance on every finding.
The platform, underpinned by Dimensions data, is being actively developed in partnership with research-intensive institutions, built for the senior leaders of such institutions and their research strategy teams, who need verifiable intelligence they can act on with confidence.
At launch, Dimensions Research Strategy will be designed to support university leadership in two key areas: Benchmarking and Expertise. The new platform offers:
- Strategic intelligence on demand - analysis that used to require weeks of commissioned work, delivered in a single session
- Decisions that hold up under scrutiny - every finding traces back to its primary source, with auditable, repeatable outputs for board meetings and internal and external reviews
- Connected data across the research landscape - grants, patents, clinical trials, policy documents, and real-world attention signals give institutions the holistic view that high-stakes decisions require
- AI-mediated domain expertise, not generic AI - built from decades of real research intelligence experience
- Analysis that evolves with strategic thinking - from first question to final brief, this is an analytical conversation research leaders are in control of, not a static report
Amye Kenall, Chief Product Officer, Digital Science, said: "The AI infrastructure our research communities rely on is being defined right now. While many of the companies building it are building horizontally for breadth, research institutions need deep domain-expert AI, where funder policies, academic search expertise, and analytical know-how for the research domain are encoded directly into the system.
"Dimensions Research Strategy brings together more than a decade of experience of serving the research policy and strategic decision-making communities, with team members who have served in so many capacities across the research ecosystem. This deep, multi-faceted and, above all, practical experience and expertise is encoded into the product. It is not a general purpose model pointed at research data, rather, it is a system that thinks in the way that the best research analysts and research decision-makers do."
Jonathan Breeze, Executive Vice President of Academic, Digital Science, said: "The strategic decisions that matter most to a research institution - where to invest, how to position, who to bring into the institution - have always required expert analytical judgment. Historically, this has consumed significant time, dedicated budget, and specialist resource. Dimensions Research Strategy puts the analysis directly in the hands of the leaders who need it, and helps the teams that support those leaders to go deeper, faster, with the full evidence chain behind every finding."
Dr Daniel Hook, CEO, Digital Science, said: "This is our newest step in our ongoing push to democratise access to research intelligence: the analytical depth of a dedicated Digital Science engagement, on demand, to any institution that needs it. These first use cases are the bedrock for something much larger: research integrity, research security, funding intelligence, and research impact are all directions we see opportunities in that can benefit our community. Our ambition is a platform that gives every research institution the strategic intelligence it needs, across every dimension that matters."
The new platform is built on Dimensions and Altmetric data, with a combined 165 million+ publications, $2.7 trillion+ in research funding data, 41 million+ researcher profiles, and 256 million+ mentions of over 24 million research outputs - the only source of interconnected data at this scale.
Dimensions Research Strategy has been greatly enhanced by a Development Partner Program, in which a cohort of research-intensive institutions across EMEA, North America, and APAC are working with Digital Science to co-design the platform against real analytical challenges. An Early Adopter Program will open in July 2026, offering founding partner benefits and continued influence on the platform's development.
