BioPorto A/S: BioPorto activates the first US clinical site as part of the ProNephro AKI U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study.

Press Release

BioPorto activates the first US clinical site as part of the ProNephro AKI, U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study.

COPENHAGEN, DENMARK, August 18, 2026 - BioPorto A/S ("BioPorto" or "Company") (CPH: BIOPOR) today announced the activation of the first U.S. clinical site for the ProNephro AKI U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study, marking an important milestone in the company's clinical efforts to expand ProNephro AKI (NGAL) to adult patients.

The ProNephro AKI U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study is designed to validate the clinical performance of ProNephro AKI (NGAL) for risk assessment of moderate to severe Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) in adult patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The study follows BioPorto's recently completed adult AKI cut-off study and represents the next phase of clinical evaluation for a potential adult indication in the United States.

CEO Carsten Buhl commented: "The activation of the first clinical site marks an important step in the execution of our ProNephro AKI U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study and the continued advancement of our adult FDA regulatory pathway. We expect to activate all sites shortly and look forward to starting to enroll patients. We are equally pleased to continue our collaboration Dr. Andrew Allegretti as National PI and thereby leveraging the strong relationships and experiences developed through our previous AKI cut-off study."

Dr. Andrew Allegretti Continues as National Principal Investigator

Dr. Andrew Allegretti, MD, MSc, of Massachusetts General Hospital will serve as national Principal Investigator for the U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study. His leadership and contributions throughout the preceding AKI cut-off study were instrumental to its successful execution and provide valuable continuity as the ProNephro AKI U.S. Adult Urine NGAL Validation Study moves into validation.

About BioPorto

BioPorto is an in vitro diagnostics company focused on saving lives and improving the quality of life with actionable biomarkers - tools designed to help clinicians make changes in patient management. The Company uses its expertise in antibodies and assay development, as well as its platform for assay development, to create a pipeline of novel and compelling products that focus on conditions where there is significant unmet medical need, and where the Company's tests can help improve clinical and economic outcomes for patients, providers, and the healthcare ecosystem.

The Company's flagship products are based on the NGAL biomarker and designed to aid in the risk assessment and diagnosis of Acute Kidney Injury, a common clinical syndrome that can have severe consequences, including significant morbidity and mortality, if not identified and treated early. With the aid of NGAL levels, physicians can identify patients potentially at risk of AKI more rapidly than is possible with current standard of care measurements, enabling earlier intervention and more tailored patient management strategies. The Company markets NGAL tests under applicable registrations including CE mark in several countries worldwide.

BioPorto has facilities in Copenhagen, Denmark and Boston, MA, USA. The shares of BioPorto A/S are listed on the Nasdaq Copenhagen stock exchange. For more information visit www.bioporto.com.

Achtung, Korrektur!
