Kraig Biocraft Laboratories Boosts Spider Silk Output More Than 30% During the Most Technically Challenging Season of the Year

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Aug. 24, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Kraig Biocraft Laboratories, Inc. (OTCQB: KBLB) ("the Company", "Kraig Labs", or "Kraig's"), a world leader in spider silk technology*, today announced that it has set another spider silk production record, increasing output by more than 30% over its previous record-setting levels. The milestone marks the Company's latest breakthrough, in a year defined by record achievements, and it comes with an added distinction. This cycle was completed during the rainy season, widely regarded as the most technically demanding stretch of the year for silk production.

Rainy season conditions have long posed one of the toughest operational challenges in sericulture, affecting everything from rearing environment stability to mulberry feedstock handling. Many producers see output slow considerably during this period. Kraig Labs did the opposite. The Company grew production by more than 30%, right through the most difficult production window of the year.

"Growing production by more than 30% is a major achievement on its own. Doing it during rainy season shows just how far our operations have come," said Kim Thompson, Founder and CEO of Kraig Labs.

Management noted that the result is even more significant given a real operational constraint the Company managed throughout the cycle. Mulberry leaves must be harvested and fed while they are dry; rainy season conditions make this far more difficult. That constraint limited usable mulberry feedstock considerably during the cycle. Kraig Labs confirmed that its rearing capacity was positioned to deliver an even larger increase had more usable mulberry been available.

"Producing high volumes in the rainy season definitely added challenges, but we embraced it as an opportunity to stress-test our system," Thompson added." As a result, we identified access to additional mulberry as a key factor for increased production."

To capture that opportunity, Kraig's operations team is now working to secure additional land dedicated to expanding the Company's in-house mulberry production capacity.

"We move fast when we see an opportunity to grow," Thompson stated. "Securing more land for mulberry production is already underway, and we expect that capacity to be online within the next two to three months. When it comes online, we expect to see another significant boost in spider silk production."

The Company also pointed to a broader operational shift behind this cycle's success. With multiple rearing operations now running in parallel, Kraig Labs has moved beyond producing in isolated, defined batches. Production has transitioned into a continuous rolling operation. This system delivers steady, ongoing output rather than a series of separate cycles. This critical shift made this cycle's rainy season performance possible.

"A conventional batch system would have taken this season off. A continuous system doesn't have that option, and it didn't need it," Thompson continued. "This is the operating model of a company built to supply spider silk at commercial scale, in any season, on a rolling basis. That is the business we have built."

Kraig Labs believes this result, achieved during the most demanding conditions of the year, points directly to the durability and capability of its production platform and business model.

"This is what our operation is built to do," Thompson concluded. "Growth, in any season, under any conditions, with resiliency and redundancy integrated at every level. Once our expanded mulberry capacity comes online, we expect that growth to accelerate even faster. We are just getting started."

Achtung, Korrektur!
