FRANKFURT (AFX) - DaimlerChrysler AG expects to decide next month whether it will launch its small car unit Smart in the US, said Klaus Maier, head of sales and marketing at the company's Mercedes Car Group.
'I expect that we will make a final decision in June,' Maier told German daily Handelsblatt.
DaimlerChrysler said in March it would cease production of its Smart Forfour model and focus on its two-seater instead in a 1 bln eur revamp of the loss-making unit.
The carmaker has said it expects Smart to make a profit next year. newsdesk@afxnews.com jfb/nes COPYRIGHT Copyright AFX News Limited 2005. All rights reserved.
