MILAN (AFX) - Compagnie Industriali Riunite SpA said first-half net profits rose to 62.7 mln eur from 37.5 mln, thanks to an improvement in profits at its operating companies and capital gains deriving from the sale of stakes in hedge funds.
The holding company's publishing unit Editoriale L'Espresso SpA booked a first-half profit of 54.8 mln eur, in line with the previous year, while the energy unit Sorgenia saw its net profit rise to 37.0 mln from 19.9 mln.
The components unit Sogefi SpA increased net profit to 27.5 mln eur from 22.0 mln and the healthcare unit HSS booked a loss of 1.1 mln, against 1.0 mln a year earlier.
