AMSTERDAM (AFX) - NedCar said this morning's report in De Telegraaf newspaper saying a Chinese consortium, including various car manufacturers, is in talks to buy Mitsubishi Motor Corp's NedCar assembly plant in Born, the Netherlands, was 'based on unfounded speculation' and 'incorrect.'
NedCar noted that a working group is currently investigating options to improve the plant's production capacity.
This group 'has various contacts' but there is 'no reason whatsoever to believe that the stage these contacts are at will have any serious impact on staff before 2009,' NedCar said.
