* Malaysia's index dipped 0.05 percent, weighed down by a 1.3 percent loss in palm plantation firm IOI Corp and a 0.11 percent loss in its peer, Sime Darby, as palm oil futures fell to eight-week lows.
* U.S. stocks slid on Friday after JPMorgan Chase & Co reported deep fourth-quarter loan losses and raised concerns about bank profits.
* Oil rallied above $78 per barrel on Monday, snapping a five-day losing streak, as the dollar eased against a basket of currencies, but concern over the outlook for energy demand and economic recovery weighed on the market.

ASIA MARKETS NEWS - For an outlook of Asian stock trading, click on - The Indonesian rupiah and Philippine peso fell alongside most other Asian currencies on Monday as investors shed riskier assets on concerns over Greece's fiscal woes and JPMorgan's surprisingly large credit losses. - Singapore and Thai shares eked out small gains on Monday, with Siam City Bank climbing in Bangkok after another potential buyer emerged for a stake, but sentiment around the region was weak.
