WHEN: Tuesday, March 9 at 9:00 a.m. (1500 GMT)
REUTERS FORECAST: Headline inflation median 0.5 percent with a range of 0.4 to 0.71 from 21 analysts. Core inflation of 0.41 with a range of 0.13 to 0.46 from 19 analysts.
FACTORS TO WATCH: Consumers are still digesting the impact of new consumption taxes and government-set fuel costs have been climbing in recent weeks as policymakers fulfill their promise to bring those prices more in line with the world market. The central bank has said that it expects the inflationary impact of new tariffs to be self-healing but if costs climb faster than expected it might push the central bank to increase lending rates in the near-term.
MARKET IMPACT: An unexpectedly high number would increase expectations for a rate-hike by the central bank. That could boost the value of the peso currency and yields on interest rate futures.
