EU says doing everything for euro zone stability

BRUSSELS, March 9 (Reuters) - The European Union executive is doing everything it can to ensure the stability of the 16-country euro zone, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said on Tuesday.

He also told the European Parliament he did not believe Greece's debt problems were caused by speculators on financial markets but by Athens' overspending.
