Deutsche Bank owns nearly 30 percent in Postbank and under a deal finalised in 2009 it has the option to buy it outright in a few years.
Analysts have wondered whether Deutsche Bank would need a capital hike at some point in the future to acquire the rest of Postbank.
Krause told Boersen-Zeitung in an interview that Deutsche Bank as of end-2009 has a 12.6 percent Tier 1 capital ratio, exceeding its own 10 percent target, and the extra 2.6 percent equates to around 7 billion euros.
'Compared with our Tier-1 targeted ratio of 10 percent, we have over 7 billion euros of additional equity,' he said.
'Including our planned growth, we have to calculate with this figure (of around 7 billion euros). We have always said that a big acquisition such as for example the Postbank is not included in our capital plans,' Krause said.
'On the other hand we expect of course that in the next coming years, additional capital will come from net profits that are plowed back into the company,' he said.
