TXU Chief Executive John Wilder Names Leadership

DALLAS, June 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In the first action following the completion of his 90-day review of the company, John Wilder, TXU president and chief executive, announced the leadership organization for the company's restructured core businesses, TXU Electric Delivery, TXU Power, and TXU Energy, as well as the three key corporate groups of finance; legal/regulatory; and planning, strategy and risk.

Wilder and his six senior officers named TXU's leaders. The new leadership structure is consistent with Wilder's objective to create a lean organization that responds well to the current energy market.

"I am delighted today to introduce our new leadership organization. Since joining TXU, I've spent a lot of time reviewing the wealth of management talent here. I knew coming in that TXU had some of the best people in the industry," said Wilder. "But, even I was surprised by the depth of ability and how much of our upper management would come from inside TXU. I am absolutely convinced the individuals being named today are the right people to help us capture the potential for our core businesses and reach industry leadership."

Reporting to Tom Baker, chairman and chief executive, TXU Electric Delivery, are:

Dan Farell, senior vice president, who will manage the Capgemini joint venture relationship. TXU holds a 3 percent ownership stake in Capgemini Energy, a company providing business and technology services to TXU and, ultimately, to the utility industry. Farell joined TXU in 1972.

TXU, a Dallas-based energy company, manages a portfolio of competitive and regulated energy businesses in North America, primarily in Texas. In TXU's unregulated business, TXU Energy provides electricity and related services to more than 2.6 million competitive electricity customers in Texas, more customers than any other retail electric provider in the state. TXU Power owns and operates 18,500 megawatts of generation in Texas, including 2,300 MW of nuclear-fired and 5,837 MW of lignite/coal-fired generation capacity. The company is also the largest purchaser of wind-generated electricity in Texas and among the top five purchasers in the North America. TXU's regulated electric distribution and transmission business complements the competitive operations, using asset management skills developed over more than one hundred years, to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. TXU's electric delivery operations are the largest in Texas, providing power to 2.9 million delivery points over more than 98,000 miles of distribution and 14,000 miles of transmission lines. TXU has agreed to sell its energy business in Australia, TXU Australia, and has announced its intent to sell TXU Gas, its largely regulated natural gas transmission and distribution business in Texas.
