Mobixell Networks announced today that Swisscom Mobile
(SCM), the leading provider of mobile communications services in
Switzerland, deployed Mobixell's Rich Media Service Center (RMSC)
version 5 to power its multimedia alert services. As a result,
Swisscom's subscribers will enjoy a compelling variety of multimedia
content, starting with World Cup news and goal alerts, specially
optimized for their handsets.
In addition to SCM's Person to Person (P2P) Multimedia Messaging services which are already enabled by Mobixell's RMSC, the first Application to Person (A2P) messaging service to be launched through RMSC will enable Swisscom Mobile subscribers to stay "on the ball" during the FIFA World Cup 2006(TM). Football fans will have no shortage of opportunities to catch up on the latest news and background information during the games and in the hours between matches. The service will send "live" multimedia content about the games right to the subscriber's handsets via MMS.
Swisscom Mobile upgraded to Rich Media Service Center Version 5 with Intelligent Multi-Application Support to enhance their growing content offering. The upgrade to RMSC Version 5 was implemented using the OMA standard interface - STI (Standard Transcoding Interface), for smoother integration. Support for the industry standard interface will also make it easy for Swisscom to integrate more services in the future.
"We frequently launch exciting new content services," said Stefan Kohler, Head of Messaging Domain. "So we were pleased to learn that Mobixell provides a single, centralized platform to power all of our multimedia offerings. We were also very pleased with the smooth integration under tight deadlines that was achieved. Such excellent performance is only reachable when the supplier, the integrator and the customer work as partners and follow a common goal."
"We are delighted that Swisscom Mobile has again chosen Mobixell to ensure a top-quality multimedia experience," said Amir Aharoni, CEO and President of Mobixell. "We are committed to enabling our customers to maximize multimedia revenues by introducing richer mobile content, more rapidly."
The Mobixell Rich Media Service Center (RMSC) ensures that end users receive multimedia content and messages consistently suited to their particular device. By consolidating all rich media adaptation, transcoding, optimization, and security into a centrally-managed solution, the new RMSC enables operators to support mobile multimedia services in an efficient, cost-effective manner both today and in the future.
