China's Lenovo low-cost handsets to use Texas Instruments single-chip platform

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Texas Instruments Inc said its 'LoCosto' single-chip platform has been selected for a line of low-cost multimedia handsets by China's Lenovo Mobile.

Financial terms of the agreement were not provided.

TI's single-chip solution will enable Lenovo's handset to feature 15 frames per second MPEG4 video recording and playback, a camera, an MP3 music player and extended battery life.

Six handsets from Lenovo which use TI's single-chip solution are currently available on the market in China, with additional models expected to be launched this year.
