Dyesol Limited / Miscellaneous/Miscellaneous 08.08.2008 Release of a Corporate News, transmitted by DGAP - a company of EquityStory AG. The issuer / publisher is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. =-------------------------------------------------------------------------- The grand opening of the dye solar cell laboratory and prototyping facilities at Tecnopolo Tiburtina in Rome on 21st July was carried out by the President of the Lazio Region, Piero Marrazzo supported by the Australian Ambassador to Italy, Amanda Vanstone in front of over 100 guests. The facilities have been developed in collaboration between the University and Dyesol Italia srL. The Dyesol deliveries involve several equipments designed and predominantly produced by the company. This is the first prototyping facility provided by Dyesol utilising the second generation of DSC equipments. The new laboratories are being operated by CHOSE (Centre for Hybrid and Organic Solar Energy). CHOSE represents researchers in DSC at Tor Vergata, University of Torino and University of Ferrara. Over twenty researchers, including 5 Dyesol Italia personnel will develop new DSC product applications in the facility which will also form the baseline for a proposed pilot plant. Following the opening, Dyesol engineers completed installation, set to work and provided training on the equipment. At the end of July the University accepted the facility and payment of the EU 324,000 contract value is due. Dr Gavin Tulloch, President of Dyesol Italia srL, who has led the project, said 'We are very pleased and professionally satisfied with the progress of this project. The equipments our team have provided are first rate, the working relationship with CHOSE is excellent, the research team is of high calibre, and the support by the Ambassador and her staff has been a wonderful catalyst. We now have a solid base in Italy to jointly develop DSC products'. Professor Claudia Bettiol, who was instrumental in the foundation of CHOSE, and is a consultant to Dyesol in Italy stated: 'CHOSE is the foundation for industrialisation of DSC in Italy. The Lazio region has committed EU6M for the research and facilitisation. Dyesol's role in the project has been a key element in moving the project towards commercial realisation.' Note to editors The Technology - DYE SOLAR CELLS DSC technology can best be described as 'artificial photosynthesis' using an electrolyte, a layer of titania (a pigment used in white paints and tooth paste) and ruthenium dye sandwiched between glass. Light striking the dye excites electrons which are absorbed by the titania to become an electric current many times stronger than that found in natural photosynthesis in plants. Compared to conventional silicon based photovoltaic technology, Dyesol's technology has lower cost and embodied energy in manufacture, it produces electricity more efficiently even in low light conditions and can be directly incorporated into buildings by replacing conventional glass panels rather than taking up roof or extra land area. The Company - DYESOL Limited Dyesol is located in Queanbeyan NSW (near Canberra) and in August 2005 was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX Code 'DYE'). Dyesol manufactures and supplies a range of Dye Solar Cell products comprising equipment, chemicals, materials, components and related services to researchers and manufacturers of DSC. The Company is playing a key role in taking this third generation solar technology out of the laboratory and into the community.
