Plant-Based Vitamin D2 EquiSANO-D™
Total Nutraceutical Solutions, Inc. (TNS) (OTCBB:TNUS), announced today that it has formulated a breakthrough Vitamin D2 enriched mushroom dietary supplement for horses. The Company has chosen to introduce this product at the 55th Annual Convention of the American Association of Equine Practitioners, Las Vegas, Nevada, December 5-9, 2009. Marvin S. Hausman, MD, CEO, TNS and Tony Basile, President, Pacific Equine Dental Institute will introduce EquiSANO-D™ and show the product's efficacy in alleviating inflammation and oxidative stress in animals.
Oxidative or inflammatory stress is caused by the release of free radicals or reactive oxygen species (ROS) within cells and tissues of an animal's body. Healthy cells and tissues normally neutralize ROS in order to stay alive. When production of ROS overwhelms the body's normal defense mechanisms, oxidative damage to cellular DNA occurs and can lead to cell death. Research indicates a strong link between oxidative stress, release of ROS and inflammation and disease, examples in the horse being inflammatory gum disease, inflammatory bowel disease, laminitis, airway respiratory disease including bleeding, tying up, and perhaps even insulin resistance. Researchers in equine health believe that horses with Vitamin D deficiencies - often seen in stalled horses - contributed to lameness, swollen joints, weak bones and teeth, and a number of cancers, including melanoma.
"The introduction of EquiSANO-D™ provides the horse owner and rider with a whole food holistic approach to equine nutrition," stated Marvin S. Hausman, MD, CEO, Total Nutraceutical Solutions, Inc. "Natural Vitamin D2 is contained within a mushroom whole food nutritional supplement, is plant-based, and provides an alternative to traditional vitamin D3 supplements which are animal-based."
