Internet access, radio/TV broadcast, and disaster recovery among services delivered
Extending a ten-year alliance, SES WORLD SKIES, a division of SES S.A. (Paris:SESG) (LuxX:SESG), today announced Clear Channel has renewed capacity deals for 144 MHz on four satellites to deliver connectivity and content to subscribers and audiences nationwide.
Under the agreements, Clear Channel has secured 46 MHz on SES-1, 36 MHz on AMC-8, 36 MHz on AMC-9 and 26 MHz on AMC-1 to offer a wide range of services, including radio broadcast and backhaul, Internet access, SNG and turnkey disaster recovery communications. Thousands of commercial radio stations across the U.S. utilize Clear Channel for satellite-delivered content, distribution, or emergency backup services.
Television stations from coast to coast rely on Clear Channel's 24/7 Network Operations center for SNG bandwidth to cover breaking news. Clear Channel's satellite-delivered Internet access and disaster recovery services are experiencing significant growth on the SES WORLD SKIES fleet.
"SES WORLD SKIES has the reliable satellites, the flexible solutions and the experienced people that continue to enable us to innovate and grow our expanding portfolio of businesses and services," said Mike Hagans, President and General Manager of Clear Channel Satellite Services. "Our satellite-delivered mobile phone systems, VSAT networks and Voice-over-IP are core components of the emergency communications strategies for leading corporations and first responders," Hagans added, noting the alliance with SES WORLD SKIES has reached the ten-year mark.
"Clear Channel's broadcast services touch virtually every commercial radio station in the U.S. aboard AMC-8, which is the de facto standard radio satellite," explained Hagans, whose team also utilizes SES WORLD SKIES satellites to update digital billboards operated by Clear Channel Outdoor.
"Clear Channel is developing and delivering some of the best broadcast, broadband and disaster recovery solutions in the business on our satellites," said Steve Bunke, Vice President of North America Media Sales for SES WORLD SKIES. "This series of capacity agreements represents the renewal of our long-term relationship and shared commitment to driving innovations that continue to evolve and enhance the delivery of connectivity and content across the country."
