What: | Â | Â | A feast of Persian culture including acclaimed musicians and dancers, short films, story readings, art exhibits and children's entertainment will highlight the 4th Annual Nowruz Celebration at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. It is all free and open to the public in celebration of Nowruz, the first day of spring, celebrated by Iranians and many others around the world as the start of a new year. |

11:30 a.m. - Persian musicians and dancers, story readings and calligraphy for youth at locations around the LACMA campus | |||
12:00 p.m. – winners of the 2012 Farhang Foundation Short Film Festival will be announced at the Brown Auditorium | |||
2:00 p.m. - awards presentation honoring the recipients of the 2012 Farhang Heritage and Lifetime Achievement Awards. This will be followed by the world premiere performance of "Celebration" by award-winning composer Hamid Saeidi at the Leo S. Bing Theater. | |||
4:30 p.m. - performance by Persian R&B recording artist, KamyR, at the BP Grand Entrance followed by a DJ until 7:00 p.m. | |||

Who: | The Farhang Foundation is a non-religious, non-political and not-for-profit foundation established in 2008 to celebrate and promote Iranian art and culture. Â LACMA's collections encompass the world and virtually the entire history of arts including a unique collection of Iranian art from the 4th millennium BC to present day. Â KamyR is a Persian R&B artist and overnight music sensation in the Persian community. He performed the US national anthem at an NBA game and recently shared the stage with his idol, Stevie Wonder. He has toured in the US, UK, Canada, Europe and the Middle East and played Los Angeles venues such as the Kodak and Nokia Theatres, the Universal Gibson Amphitheater and Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Â Hamid Saeidi is an internationally lauded performer, producer and award-winning composer whose music transcends musical categorization. He has composed music for film, television, dance and theatrical presentations and has won numerous awards for his works. He has chosen to perform the world premiere of a new selection, "Celebration" during the Nowruz festivities. | ||
