The number of passengers traveling from Iceland increased by 12% year-on-year, and domestic passengers increased by 11%. Traffic to and from Iceland continues to be strong, reflecting the Company's current focus on these markets.
Load factor was 86.5%, and on-time performance was 84.9%. Sold block hours in charter flights increased by 16% and freight, measured in Freight Ton Kilometres, increased by 6%.
CO2 emissions per operational tonne-kilometre (OTK) decreased by 4% year-on-year, as a result of the Company's fleet renewal programme, continued focus on operational efficiency, and high load factor.
Bogi Nils Bogason, Icelandair President and CEO:
"June marked the start of the peak summer season, with 545 thousand passengers carried and a high load factor. Demand for travel from Iceland remained strong, with passengers in that market increasing by 12% year-on-year, while domestic traffic also grew between years.
Our focus remains on delivering a reliable operation through the busy summer period, supported by continued improvements in fleet efficiency and operational performance. The 4% reduction in CO2 emissions per operational tonne-kilometre underlines the continued impact of our fleet renewal programme and broader efficiency measures."
