Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia--(Newsfile Corp. - August 22, 2026) - ASEAN Records Sdn Bhd and ASIA Records Sdn Bhd, independent certification bodies headquartered in Malaysia, today announced new regional offices in Jakarta, Indonesia, and Hong Kong, alongside a launch program extending to Bangkok, Beijing and India. The organizations have verified more than 370 records since ASEAN Records began operations in November 2024 and ASIA Records launched in October 2025.

Where traditional awards rest on subjective judgement, the two bodies apply a fourteen-stage certification process requiring a defined metric, independently verifiable evidence and a documented review before any record is confirmed. The full methodology is published on each organisation's website.
"An award asks who is most deserving. A record asks what can be proven," said Gillian Ooi, Managing Director and Chief Adjudicator at ASEAN Records Sdn Bhd. "Our role is to verify claims and publish the process behind that verification, so the work can be tested by anyone."
ASEAN Records and ASIA Records operate as separate legal entities under the shared management of Gillian Ooi and Eldrick Koh each maintaining its own register and adjudication standards. ASEAN Records certifies achievements across Southeast Asia under its registered company name, approved by the ASEAN Secretariat and by the Malaysian Minister under the Companies Act 2016. It is not an agency, representative or partner of ASEAN. The approvals were granted to ASEAN Records; ASIA Records operates continentally under its own registrations, assessment standards and governance, and its name is a registered trademark in Hong Kong.
"The value of a record is not the certificate," Ooi said. "It is the documentation that outlasts it."
