MassRobotics Announces Board Member Daniel Theobald to Step Down After Decade of Service

BOSTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / August 24, 2026 / MassRobotics announces that Daniel Theobald, a Co-founder, founding board member and longtime champion of the robotics ecosystem, will step down from the organization's Board of Directors as he focuses on his other business ventures and on growing the robotics ecosystem in Silicon Valley.

Theobald has played a foundational role in the creation and growth of MassRobotics. As an original co-founder and founding board member, he was instrumental in helping establish the organization as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and in laying the groundwork for what has become a leading independent hub for robotics innovation.

In the early days of MassRobotics, Theobald provided space at Vecna Robotics for the organization to meet and bring together members of the growing robotics community. His support helped provide the foundation for MassRobotics as it evolved from an idea into a thriving ecosystem supporting robotics startups, entrepreneurs, researchers, and industry partners.

"Daniel's contributions to MassRobotics go back to our earliest days, and his impact on the organization cannot be overstated," said Thomas Ryden, Executive Director of MassRobotics. "He was there when we were establishing the organization, helping us navigate the early stages of becoming a nonprofit and providing a place for the community to come together. His commitment to advancing robotics has been an important part of our journey, and we are deeply grateful for his dedicated service."

Theobald has been a strong advocate for greater collaboration and interoperability across the robotics industry. He was a driving force behind efforts to advance the Autonomous Mobile Robot (AMR) interoperability standard, helping address the need for multiple robotics vendors and systems to operate together effectively within the same environment. His work has contributed to a more open and collaborative approach to deploying robotics at scale.

"Daniel has always been someone who looks at what the robotics industry needs next and works to make it happen. His push for interoperability is a great example of that mindset bringing the industry together to make it easier for different robotic systems to work side by side. We're grateful for the perspective and leadership he has brought to MassRobotics and wish him the best as he continues building the robotics ecosystem in Silicon Valley," said Tye Brady, Board Chair of MassRobotics and Chief Technologist at Amazon Robotics

As he steps away from the MassRobotics Board, Theobald will continue his work in robotics and entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on growing the robotics ecosystem in Silicon Valley. He also plans to remain a strong advocate for the region as robotics continues to grow worldwide with deep roots in New England. He will continue to partner on important initiatives, including efforts to reshore jobs and advance industry standards.

"MassRobotics has already done so much good in the world. It brings me joy to have served on the board and I look forward to the continued impact of this amazing team. Tom Ryden and Joyce Sidopoulos deserve special recognition for their decade of tireless work and dedication," said Daniel Theobald.

MassRobotics extends its sincere appreciation to Daniel Theobald for his leadership, dedication, and contributions to the organization and to the broader robotics community.

Achtung, Korrektur!
