Quantum-Si Incorporated: Quantum-Si Announces Detection of 18 Amino Acids Using a Developmental Sequencing Kit on Proteus

BRANFORD, Conn., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Quantum-Si Incorporated (Nasdaq: QSI) ("Quantum-Si," "QSI" or the "Company"), a proteomics company redefining protein analysis through single-molecule protein sequencing, today announced that it has demonstrated sequencing with detection of 18 amino acids using a developmental kit run on integrated Proteus instruments. The Company continues to expect to demonstrate detection of all 20 amino acids in 2026.

"Demonstrating detection of 18 amino acids and incorporating that capability into a developmental sequencing kit that has been successfully run on integrated Proteus instruments is a significant milestone for our company," said Jeff Hawkins, President and Chief Executive Officer of Quantum-Si. "For over a year we have said that we would demonstrate detection of all 20 amino acids during 2026, and this result further increases our confidence in achieving that goal."

Hawkins continued, "As we stated on our second quarter earnings call, the revised instrument timeline would allow us to progress further on amino acid recognizer development before finalizing our formulation for launch. The pace of improvement we are seeing continues to exceed our expectations, and by achieving detection of 18 amino acids now, we believe there is a potential to deliver all 20 amino acids in the commercial kit at launch."
