STOCKHOLM (dpa-AFX) - Holmen AB (HOLM-B.ST, HLMMF), a manufacturer of paperboard, paper and wood products, on Thursday reported lower net income in the third quarter of 2026 compared with the previous year.
The company said that the third-quarter operating profit was affected by a major maintenance shutdown at Iggesund Mill, while weak construction demand and cautious consumers continued to pressure forest products markets, partly offset by lower wood prices and improved sawmill efficiency.
For the third quarter, profit declined to SEK 391 million from SEK 944 million in the previous year.
Earnings per share were SEK 2.6 versus SEK 6.1 last year.
EBITDA decreased to SEK 909 million from SEK 1.11 billion in the same period a year ago.
Operating profit slid to SEK 549 million from SEK 737 million in the prior year.
Net sales declined to SEK 4.95 billion from SEK 5.33 billion in the previous year.
On Wednesday, Holmen closed trading 0.57% higher at $316.40 on the Stockholm Stock Exchange.
