FRANKFURT (AFX) - Deutsche Post World Net AG chief executive Klaus Zumwinkel said the company would accept a complete liberalization of Germany's mail industry if the rest of Europe followed suit by 2010 or 2011, according to a pre-release of an interview with WirtschaftsWoche on Monday.
'We would accept the complete liberalization in Germany if this is also implemented in the rest of Europe two or three years later,' he said.
The EU has set a deadline for mail liberalization in the country by end-2007.
'We would insist on a fixed date for a final phase-out of the mail monopoly within the EU. If countries such as France or Spain avoid this, then the German government must galvanise itself to take action,' Zumwinkel added.
