SALT LAKE CITY (AFX) - Cepheid and Idaho Technology Inc. said Thursday they settled a dispute over intellectual property covering several rapid polymerase chain reaction methods and instrumentation used in genetic analysis.
Under the deal, Cepheid paid Idaho Technology nearly $3.4 million. The settlement resolves claims by Idaho Technology that Cepheid infringed three of its patents dealing with genetic analysis. The deal also covers the use of SYBR Green 1 in PCR reactions and methods of analysis of real-time PCR data.
Cepheid makes genetic analysis systems.
Shares of Cepheid rose 20 cents, or 2.5 percent, to $8.07 on the Nasdaq in morning trading.
