LONDON (dpa-AFX) - More than 100,000 Jaguar Land Rover cars engineered in the U.K will be recalled in the U.S. following brake and sidelight complaints. The recall will start by March 13 and the repair and replacement will be free of cost.
The company plans to replace brake hose of 74,648 Range Rovers manufactured between 2006 and 2012. Further, Range Rover Sports model of 2013 and 2014 also will be recalled to repair brake vacuum hoses.
Parking light issues were reported for Jaguar models. 4787 XK cars will be recalled to correct the issue of switching off of parking sidelights after five minutes, due to a software issue.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration noted that if one or both the flexible front brake hoses fails, the vehicle may require longer distance to stop, increasing the risk of a crash.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration had initiated an investigation in 2010 on brake hoses issue, but closed it after two years as there was no accidents related to hoses and bulges. However, more hose ruptures were noted by end of 2014 and the authority re-opened the case.
