Northern Infrastructure Panel & National Launch of Financial Literacy Toolkit for Inuit Youth

OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 06/17/16 -- Northern Canadian communities have often lacked the infrastructure and investment that is needed to thrive, and as a result, Northern Canadian's face the highest cost of living in the country. Economic prosperity, food security, and affordable living conditions should be things that all Canadians enjoy, regardless of which part of our country they call home.

In this Economic Club exclusive, we will explore the huge potential for growth in the north and identify practical solutions to some of the most difficult challenges northern communities face. As Prime Minister Trudeau has said, Northern communities can thrive, but they need a partner that will invest in people and infrastructure.

As an additional opportunity, media are welcome to join us in the morning for the national launch of a financial literacy toolkit for Inuit youth. The program, developed by Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK) and the National Inuit Youth Council (NIYC) in partnership with the Jr. Economic Club of Canada (Jr. EC) and with support from the Government of Canada and First Air, explores the financial literacy themes of personal money management, entrepreneurship and the link between health and wealth. The toolkit will be launched at a breakfast event presented in partnership with TD Bank and First Air.
