BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - The Bank of England lifted key rate to 0.25 percent from 0.10 percent and retained the quantitative easing programme at GBP 895 billion.
Following the decision, the pound rose against its major counterparts.
The pound was trading at 1.3343 against the greenback, 152.31 against the yen, 1.2341 against the franc and 0.8470 against the euro around 7:04 am ET.
