CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - The Reserve Bank of Australia raised its benchmark lending rate by 50 basis points to 0.85 percent from 0.35 percent. Following the announcement, the aussie jumped against its major rivals.
The aussie was trading at 95.94 against the yen, 1.4780 against the euro, 0.7231 against the greenback and 1.1150 against the kiwi around 12:35 am ET.
